Hi Pradnya, Hope you are doing well. A colleague mentioned your book a few months back and I finally got around to reading it — finished it faster than I expected honestly. The bit about cultural identity and money behaviour really stayed with me. I work with a pretty diverse client base and it's shifted how I think about some of my conversations. Hard to explain exactly but something clicked. Recommended it to a few people already. Thank you for writing it — it's the kind of book that needed to exist.

Pradnya — had to message you after finishing the book last night. I am a small business owner, based in Milan, and I will be honest I picked it up half expecting the usual stuff. Budgeting tips, savings plans, that sort of thing. It was nothing like that. The part about why we sabotage ourselves financially even when we know better — I have been thinking about it for days. A lot of things about my own behaviour make more sense now than they ever did.

I was in the middle of a career change when a friend handed me this book. Honestly wasn't sure I was in the right headspace for it but ended up reading the whole thing in a few sittings. What I did not expect was how un-judged I would feel reading it. Dr. Surana has this way of explaining why we behave the way we do around money — and it does not make you feel stupid or ashamed, it just makes things clearer. That meant a lot to me at the time. Still does.

Dr. Surana — I do not usually message authors but made an exception here. I studied behavioural economics and thought I had a fairly solid understanding of money psychology. Your book found gaps I did not know I had. The cross-cultural sections in particular — I was not expecting to relate to them as much as I did. Have already passed the recommendation on to several people on my team. Thank you for the work you are doing.

Nearly did not buy this. Assumed it would be the usual — cut your expenses, track your spending, drink less coffee. It is not that at all. Dr. Surana writes about money the way a good therapist talks about difficult relationships. No judgement, just a lot of honesty. The sections on money anxiety were uncomfortably accurate in the best possible way. Bought two more copies for family. If you have ever felt completely irrational about money and had no idea why — this book will help you make sense of it.

Pradnya!! I have been meaning to message for ages. Heard you on a podcast a while back and ordered the book the same day I work in HR so I see money stress play out in the workplace constantly — this gave me a completely different way of looking at what people are actually going through. That whole section on money and self worth. Wow. Just wow. Please keep writing

Some books you read and some books you sit with for a while after. This one was the second kind. I had been carrying that low background hum of money worry for years — nothing dramatic, just always there. What I did not realise until reading this was that the worry itself was worth looking at, not just the practical side of things. Dr. Surana makes that distinction gently but it lands hard. Warm and quietly very useful. Will reread.
